Dr. Ahmed Abdelmagid, Research Scientist
Dr. Ahmed Abdelmagid is a Research Scientist in Oilseed Crops Pathology at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Morden Research and Development Centre in Manitoba. His research focuses on the biology, epidemiology, and management of soilborne and foliar diseases affecting oilseed and pulse crops, including soybean, canola, sunflower, flax, pea, dry bean, and faba bean.
Dr. Abdelmagid leads several large, multi-year field and greenhouse projects across the Prairie provinces in collaboration with producer groups, universities, and federal research centres. His program integrates traditional field pathology with molecular and microbiome approaches to better understand disease dynamics and to support the development of sustainable management strategies.
He plays a key role in provincial and national crop disease surveillance programs, providing critical data on emerging pathogens and yield-limiting diseases in Western Canada.
