Opening Day Preview – What to Look For on Day One

Manitoba Ag Days is ready to welcome you on Tuesday, January 20th. “The Keystone Centre is filled with
over 580 exhibitors and the speaker program is fantastic. We are showing off our prairie products
throughout the show.” said Michael Cousins, Manitoba Ag Days Board Co-Chair. “You’ll want to be
watching for the special flags that mark these prairie products and check out the Produced on the
Prairies Market at the top of the ramp!”

Opening day is packed with incredible opportunities to network, learn and do business!

Don’t miss the Kickoff Breakfast, which takes place in the Provincial Exhibition Dome Building from
7:30am-8:45am on Tuesday, January 20th and is presented by Heritage Co-Op. Admission is by donation
($5 minimum) and all proceeds from the kickoff breakfast will go to Ag in the Classroom – Manitoba.

The Manitoba Canola Growers Association program runs in the FCC Theatre on Tuesday morning and
begins at 9:30am with Dr. John Gavloski with a session titled Weevil Be Fine: Review of Insects Bugging
Manitoba Canola Farmers. At 10:15am a panel discussion will focus on Verticillium Stripe. The morning
wraps up with Brittany Wood from Canadian Canola Growers Association, discussing Canola’s Role in
Global Trade and Biofuels. The afternoon program begins with the Field Tested farmer panel at 1:00pm,
debating ROI decision making factors, followed by crop, nutrient and pest management sessions.

The MNP Theatre also has a full day scheduled and the morning is entitled The Future of Ag. This block
begins at a special time; be in the theatre at 8:45am to hear the final round of the first Manitoba Young
Speakers for Agriculture competition. Next, Bryan Buhler, a farming simulator mod creator will discuss
how the simulator is an opportunity to learn and FIVE lucky audience members will WIN a collector
edition box set Farming Simulator for PC. The afternoon begins with Land and Legacy: Tax Strategies for
Farm Succession by Michael Poole at 1:00pm. The featured speaker, Dr. Sylvan Charlebois, also known as
the Food Professor, takes the stage at 1:30pm to share his perspective on how Canada can safeguard its
food security while enhancing its competitiveness in an increasingly volatile world.

The exhibitors are also ready to welcome you to their booths and to talk business. Ag Days is your
