40 Years of Farm Show Excellence!

December 1, 2016

The countdown is on, 46 Days until the “Agriculture Year Begins and you won’t want to miss this years’ event”! states Andrea Guthrie, Manitoba Ag Days Media Coordinator. Manitoba Ag Days will take place January 17th to 19th, 2017 at the Keystone Center in Brandon Manitoba and this year will be one for the record books, the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the show. What started out as a one room “Weed Fair” has now grown into Canada’s Largest Indoor Farm Show.
Manitoba Ag Days is 100% Pure Farm. The event is a 3-day exposition focusing purely on agriculture. Each year the show has continued to grow and has remained proudly committed to ensuring that all exhibitors, speakers and presentations are strictly agriculture related. The show is expected to attract 45,000 exhibitors and visitors from across Canada and North Central United States. International Visitors also attend this world class event. Everyone is welcome! “We are very excited to announce that we will be using every square inch of the Keystone Center this year as we have acquired the last 19,200 ft2 of available space bringing the total square footage of the show to 540,000 ft2; all under one roof! This has allowed us to welcome 54 new exhibitors for the 2017 show” stated Phillips.
To top off the largest show yet, the 40th anniversary show will have several special features and events taking place. First off, exhibitors are encouraged to display something nostalgic in their booth to commemorate 40 years of Ag Show Excellence. The top 3 winners will have the option to receive a cash prize of $1000, $500 and $250 respectively. If they choose to donate the funds to a local charity, Manitoba Ag Days will match their contribution. “We are also encouraging every patron to wear something nostalgic to the show. We will be handing out prizes to every patron we see participating in this years’ celebration so be sure to dig through those closets ahead of time, stated Andrea Guthrie, Manitoba Ag Days Media Coordinator.
For the first time, this year’s show will include a Farm Safety Feature Competition. We are challenging exhibitors to highlight a Farm Safety Message at their booth. “Manitoba Ag Days takes farm safety very seriously and we have decided to eliminate the Farm Safety Zone in our Show and open it up to the FARM SAFETY FEATURE, which allows all of the exhibitors in our show to highlight a key safety message or highlight an implement designed specifically with safety in mind” says Kristen Phillips, Manitoba Ag Days General Manager. The Canadian Agriculture Safety Association will also be launching and unveiling their new Grain Entrapment / Suffocation Demo Trailer. Last year CASA was a recipient of our “Ag Days Gives Back Safety and Emergency services grant and we are very proud to see that the grain entrapment trailer has come to fruition and will be at the show to share such an important safety message to our agriculture community”, stated Guthrie.
The program committee has been working very hard at making the 40th line up outstanding. “We have a wide range of dynamic speakers with backgrounds from private industry, governments, and academia who will bring their areas of expertise to the Ag Days crowd,” Phillips says. The complete line up will be released in the upcoming days but to give you a glimpse of the 60 talented speakers here are just a few: Keynote speaker Terry O’Reilly from CBC’s “Under the Influence” will share his insights on “Harvesting the power of storytelling”. Angela Santiago from The Little Potato Company will also join us along with Drew Lerner from World Weather Inc. Thomas Mielke will be flying over from Germany to share his thoughts from OilWorld and the list goes on…… stay tuned!
Lastly, we can’t forget about the regular attractions to the show including The Bull Congress where you get to meet the producers as well as the actual Bulls behind the genetics which is now permanently located in Barn 11. “The Inventors Showcase” will highlight 17 of the latest inventions and “The New Products Competition” will include 17 new products from an array of companies. 17 seems to be a theme for our 2017 show!
Stay tuned for more exciting information in the upcoming weeks!
