Scott Day is a farmer from Deloraine, Manitoba. For 23+ years Scott was also an Ag Rep and Research Farm Manager for Manitoba Agriculture in SW Manitoba.

He then left the Manitoba Government in 2011 to help start the agricultural investment and ag tech firm called “Fall Line Capital” which is based in San Francisco.

Fall Line invests in farmland across the USA and then manages those farms in partnership with local farmers with a focus on soil and water conservation. Fall Line also invests globally in new early-stage Ag & Food Technologies. Fall Line takes a very active role in the management of all their investments.

Scott received a BS in Agriculture from the U of M in 1987. Scott is currently a Director and the Chief Agronomist for Fall Line Capital, but he also continues farm, with the help of his family, at Deloraine.

The family farm is called Treelane Farms Ltd. and it is a typical Prairie farm growing cereals, pulses and oilseeds. Scott and his wife Ann spend their winters in San Mateo, California where the Fall Line head office is located and their summers are spent back home at the farm in Manitoba.

Ann and Scott have a daughter Alex who is now working on a Biology Masters at Carleton University in Ottawa.

Scott was a long standing member of the Ag Days committee and is he extremely pleased to see how successful this event has become.

Jeanette is a Technical Specialist with BASF Agsolutions Canada and is presenting our innovations on behalf of a larger team from Research & Development, through technical Development, to the friendly faces of our Sales Representatives.

Jeanette is based in the field and supports the Sales reps bringing crop protection, seed and digital solutions to our customers.

Dr. Ahmed Abdelmagid is a Research Scientist in Oilseed Crops Pathology at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Morden Research and Development Centre in Manitoba. His research focuses on the biology, epidemiology, and management of soilborne and foliar diseases affecting oilseed and pulse crops, including soybean, canola, sunflower, flax, pea, dry bean, and faba bean.

Dr. Abdelmagid leads several large, multi-year field and greenhouse projects across the Prairie provinces in collaboration with producer groups, universities, and federal research centres. His program integrates traditional field pathology with molecular and microbiome approaches to better understand disease dynamics and to support the development of sustainable management strategies.

He plays a key role in provincial and national crop disease surveillance programs, providing critical data on emerging pathogens and yield-limiting diseases in Western Canada.

Justin Oertel is the Founder and Lead Weather Forecaster at The Weather Centre of Manitoba, Justin was born and raised and still to this day remains based in Brandon, MB.

Justin built the team and leads: forecasting, storm-chasing and content creation for the Province on his Facebook Page that has now grown to and surpassed the 150,000 follower mark. With a strong passion for: weather, photography and a local weather perspective, he has shaped the weather scene in Manitoba with a clear voice for accuracy and true information when it comes to the Weather and Climate.

Jacob Shapiro is a geopolitical analyst who provides strategic guidance to families, investors, and corporations.

He is Director of Research at The Bespoke Group, a U.S.-based multi-family office that applies generational thinking to the preservation and growth of generational wealth for families around the world.

Jacob also hosts “The Jacob Shapiro” podcast, which features interviews with subject matter experts in geopolitics, technology, and whatever he thinks is important.

He lives in New Orleans with his wife and two daughters.
