Scott Day, Venture Capital Agronomist, Treelane Farms Ltd. & Fall Line Capital LLC.

Scott Day is a farmer from Deloraine, Manitoba. For almost 24 years Scott was an Ag Rep and Crop Diversification Specialist for Manitoba Agriculture in Southwest Manitoba.  He then left the Manitoba Government in 2011 to help start the agricultural investment and management firm called “Fall Line Capital” which is based in California’s Silicon Valley. Fall Line invests in Farmland across the USA as well as new Ag Technologies around the World.  Fall Line takes a very active role in the management of all their investments. Scott has direct farming experience, not only across North America, but also in Australia, Europe & the Former Soviet Union. Scott has won awards for his ag extension work and promotion of conservation agriculture.  Along with recent speaking opportunities such as Grainworld and other events in North America. Scott has also been a contributing author to the advanced agriculture reference books: “The Search for Sustainable Agriculture” and “Rainfed Farming Systems Around the World”.  Scott most recently contributed to the book “Advances in Conservation Agriculture, Volume 2” by Amir Kassam with the UN/FAO. Scott received a BS in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba in 1987 and is a Professional Agrologist.   Scott is currently Director of Agronomy for Fall Line Capital based in San Mateo, California, but he also continues farm, with the help of his family, near Deloraine, Manitoba in Southwest Manitoba.  His winters are spent at the Fall Line head office in California with his wife Ann and their summers are spent back home at the farm.

Mady Adamson is a 5th generation Saskatchewan grain farmer. She is passionate about ag education and sharing what she knows to her social media pages titled Learning About Ag With Mady. Mady is currently in grade 4 and in her spare time enjoys dancing, watching hockey and reading. Since Learning About Ag With Mady began in April 2021 Mady has gotten to meet many wonderful people, work side by side on some great projects and appreciates all the support she has received.

Brian Perillat, Agricultural Economist/Agribusiness Specialist, Bullseye Feeds @brian_perillat 

Brian Perillat has over 20 years of experience in the field of agricultural economics and market analysis. In 2022, Brian started a new role as Agribusiness Specialist at More Than Just Feed. He supports the Bullseye team and their customers by offering management tools and information by sharing resources, market analysis, and risk management expertise. Prior to this, Brian was the Manager at Canfax for 12 years, and previously worked with MNP as a Farm Management Consultant. Brian grew up on a mixed farming operation near Duck Lake Saskatchewan and continues to be very involved with the family farm.

Scott Kehler, Meteorologist, Weatherlogics @scottdkehler

Scott is the President and Chief Scientist of Weatherlogics. He attended the University of Manitoba, where he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in meteorology. In his current role as Chief Scientist at Weatherlogics, Scott conducts weather research and develops tools to help clients plan for all types of weather conditions. This includes new methods to improve weather prediction and the analysis of past weather events. Despite his research focus, Scott still enjoys forecasting day-to-day weather and is often involved with preparing forecasts for high-impact events.

Currently a member of Manitoba Agriculture’s Farm Enterprise Management Team, Darren has shown a passion for everything agricultural for all of his life. Born and raised on a grain and cattle farm in Manitoba’s Interlake, Darren was previously involved with agricultural finance and now works with agricultural producers and industry with all matters farm management.

Marla Riekman, Land Management Specialist – Soils, Manitoba Agriculture @MBGovAg

Marla Riekman is the Soil Management Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture and Resource Development. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Agroecology and a Master’s Degree in Soil Science, both from the University of Manitoba. Before joining Manitoba Agriculture in 2007, Marla worked as the Farm Manager for the Manitoba Zero Tillage Research Association and also as a Soil Conservationist with the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration. Marla’s main focus is to provide extension on dealing with problem soils and maintaining long-term productivity by managing soil health. Marla’s passion for soil has even crept into her personal life – she is known to create jewelry with soil in her spare time!
