How can you protect yourself when you deliver grain? Canadian agricultural producers have certain rights when they make deliveries to an elevator through services offered by the Canadian Grain Commission. Doug will outline how the Canadian Grain Commission can help you get fair value for your grain, with a focus on the new and more producer friendly Final Quality Determination. This service gives producers the option to request a second opinion from the Canadian Grain Commission on their grain’s quality assessment, like grain grade, moisture, protein or dockage.

Fertilizer. Equipment. Interest rates. OH MY! Dramatic increases in price and volatility are all major factors in the cost of production. While we have experienced higher than average grain prices, are those prices high enough to support profitability? This draws the question – will this be a once in a farming career opportunity, or could this be the new normal? Join Roy and Darren as they explore strategies for producers to address these issues by increasing efficiencies on their farms while limiting risk during these wild and stressful times.

Canada’s Food Supply Chain has been threatened in recent years and affects access to food for Canadians across the country. There are many moving parts to the supply chain and any fault in the system can disrupt the arrival of food on your table. Producers livelihoods are challenged repeatedly and adjustments need to be made in our thinking to ensure we have food on our tables. Canada can produce a great deal of food although historically has been relying on other countries to fill our grocery shelves. With some adaptations, more forward thinking and holding our leadership accountable, we can do better for Canadians and ensuring their food supply is not threatened.
