Title: Is Adding Good Processing a Good Fit for your Farm?

Speaker(s): Amy Nikkel – Adagio Acres

Wednesday 18, 11:10am-12:05pm – Dome Building

This talk will take grain farmers – both organic and nonorganic, through the process of establishing and running an on-farm food processing enterprise, highlighting the challenges and the benefits to the whole farm.

Amy Nikkel is the owner of a small organic farm in the Interlake area of Manitoba. Since 2022, her farm has been growing an alternative variety of oats for Manitoba porridge pots. Oats are milled on-farm and sold through retail and food services across Western Canada. Amy also runs a winter CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) venture where she sells her grains, along with products grown by other local organic producers directly to Manitoba consumers.
