Dan joined the Council in March 2011.

As a B.Sc. graduate from the University of Alberta, Dan combines his education and more than 19 year’s field experience to assist the Canola Council of Canada and the Crop Production Team. Dan’s scouting led to the first detection of clubroot in Alberta in 2003, and has since taken on the role of clubroot leader for the agronomy team and is a withstanding member of the Clubroot Steering Group. Dan covers the North Central Alberta Region, and when not doing agronomy he enjoys camping and playing guitar.

David Mielke is a Market Analyst and actively involved in global supply and demand projections at ISTA Mielke GmbH, OIL WORLD, in Hamburg (Germany), a leading research organisation that provides global supply, demand and price analyses, statistics and forecasts for all the major oilseeds, vegetable oils and animal fats and oil meals, as well as for biodiesel and other products.
David has also given various seminars and conferences and is a member of OIL WORLD board. He joined the OIL WORLD team in 2013, after studying economics with a focus on international trade and game theory at the Universität zu Köln (Cologne, Germany). Prior to his current role, he spent a year in the US and worked in various agricultural firms in Switzerland and Southeast Asia.

Patti Miller has extensive experience in Canada’s agriculture industry. Since 2017, she has been Chief Commissioner of the Canadian Grain Commission. Before that, she was President of the Canola Council of Canada where she led the development and implementation of a new strategic plan and guided the canola industry to successful resolution of several challenging trade issues. During her career with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Ms. Miller was responsible for working with Canadian grain producers and the industry on policy, trade, market development and research issues in order to facilitate sustainable, profitable market growth in the sector. Ms. Miller holds an MSc, Agricultural Economics from the University of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Frey is a Senior Scientist at Aquanty Inc, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Waterloo. He received his PhD (2011) in Earth Sciences at the University of Waterloo, and is currently leading the development of the Assiniboine River Basin HydroGeoSphere modelling platform.

Angela is an agronomist for the Canola Council of Canada. Her main focus since joining Council in 2012 has been on the optimization of canola harvest and storage. She spends most of her free time and all of her money farming with her family in Justice, Manitoba.

Greg was raised in Roland, MB on a small grain farm and obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba majoring in Agronomy. After graduation, he travelled to Australia to experience the harvest down under before starting his master’s at the University of Manitoba. Working with Dr. Yvonne Lawley, Greg’s studies have focused on identifying the best residue management practices prior to growing soybean in Manitoba. During his time at the U of M, he gained experience with on-farm testing by incorporating his residue management work into trials located on operational farms. This experience led into a position with Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers where he currently coordinates their On-Farm Network.
