We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people that helped make our 2019 Manitoba Social a huge success.

Thank you to all of the people who purchased tickets and came out to support the social.

Thank you to all of the companies who donated prizes, auction items and swag!  You made the social an incredible evening. Please see the attached Thank you Poster with all of the contributing organizations.

Thank you to all of the people who purchased prizes in the live auction. The live auction raised $17205.00 A Big Shout out goes to: Fraser Auction Services (Scott & Jesse Campbell), Bill Klassen Auction Ltd. (Bill & Karen Klassen) and Ritchie Bros. (Mason Richaud) for volunteering  your time and energy in auctioning off all of the prizes.  A special thank you to Minister Ralph Eichler and his team of spotters which included: Reg Helwer, Larry Maguire and Len Isleifson.

Thank you to all of the people who purchased prizes in the silent auction.  The silent auction raised $5650.00

Thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets.  The players choice raffle raised $4010.00

Thank you to everyone who purchased 50/50 tickets.  The 50/50 tickets raised $505.  The winner of the 50/50 was Trevor Scherman and he donated $260.00 of his winnings back to AITC-MB.

Some of the prizes were reauctioned by the winners and this raised an additional $425.00

This year we decided to make Agriculture in the Classroom – Manitoba our recipient of the social profits because of our Theme of “Tell Your Story – Be An Agvocate” We still have to figure out all of the logistics but we are very proud to announce that Manitoba Ag Days will be presenting AITC-M with $28,055 from all of the social prizes that were donated by our exhibitors and friends. We would like to thank AITC-M for all of their work packaging and preparing the social prizes; it was a huge task and we are grateful for their help.

Thursday, January 24th, 2019 brings the 3rd and final day of the Manitoba Ag Days 2019 show. The program will kick off at 9:00 am in the FCC Theatre with “Strategies for managing herbicide resistant weeds” with the Weed Specialist for Manitoba Agriculture, Tammy Jones. At 9:45 am Dennis Lange, Provincial Pulse Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture and John Buch, Americas Raw Material Manager with Roquette will review the “Past, present and future” of Manitoba field peas. At 10:15 am, David Mielke, Senior Analyst, with Oil World, will give us a presentation on “Global supply, demand and price outlook and impacts for Canada”. To wrap up the morning sessions in the FCC Theatre at 11:15 am, Lorne Grieger, Agricultural Engineer with PAMI, will speak on how to “Cut your losses at the front end”.
The MNP Theatre will get started at 9:30 am with Farm Management Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, Roy Arnott with an update on “Organic crop production costs for 2019”. Directly following Roy at 10:00 am, an organic producer panel consisting of Stuart McMillan, producer, Legend Organic Farms, Travis Heide, producer, One Organic Farms and Jason Peters, Agronomist, Kroeker Farms will address the question “Can organic agriculture maintain its strong production values as farms get bigger?” Closing out the morning at 11:30 am, “The growing market for organic foods, trends and opportunities for producers” will be presented by Organic Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, Dr. Laura Telford.
Thursday afternoon in the FCC Theatre will begin at 1:00 pm with Bruce Burnett, Director of Markets and Weather, MarketsFarm-Glacier Farm Media speaking on “Mother nature, the silent storm in the markets”. Directly following Bruce, Rob Paola, Meteorologist, with Rob’s Obs will speak on “What’s ahead weather wise for 2019” at 1:45 pm. At 2:30 pm, Soil Fertility Extension Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, John Heard, will speak on “Matching soil moisture and fertilization strategies”. At 3:15 to close out the afternoon sessions in the FCC Theatre, Jeff Schoenau, Professor with the Department of Soil Science with the University of Saskatchewan will give his presentation on “To Micro or not to micro?”
At 1:00 pm in the MNP Theatre, Edith Frison, Business Advisor, Business Advisor with MNP LLP will be presenting on “How will the new tax on split income rules affect your farming operation?” At 1:30 pm, Brian Harper, Circle H Farms will speak on “How we use livestock as a tool to heal degraded land”. At 2:15 pm, “It’s all about learning and growing through networks” with Ryan Boyd, producer, South Glanton Farms Inc, Lydia Carpenter, producer, Luna Field Farm, Brooks White, producer, Borderland Agriculture and Amber McNish, student, Borderland Agriculture. To close out the show in the MNP Theatre, Steve Frey, Scientist, MFGA Aquanty Project, will speak on “How your farm management influences your community resiliency”.
