Without a show in January of 2021 one might wonder what Manitoba Ag Days has to deliver.  We know we cannot physically be together this year and so our board wanted to remain committed to Ag education, innovation and supporting the communities where our exhibitors and patrons live.  On August 18, 2020, Manitoba Ag Days had to make the very difficult decision to cancel our show.  We did not want to compete with the smaller events and / or conferences that were going to be able to go forward in 2020/ 2021 as we will always be a trade show first.  We are Canada’s Largest Indoor Farm Show and a great deal of that success is attributed to our amazing exhibitors and long term sponsors.   And we wanted to be able to give back to those who have supported us……

Innovation is at the forefront in Agriculture and we wanted to maintain our momentum with our Innovation Showcase!!! We have 7 categories that companies can enter their new product, item, service or invention into.  For more details go to www.agdays.com/innovations With no show we wanted to help these companies launch their products all while keeping our patrons informed and up to date.  We surveyed our clientele and every survey told us the same thing.  Farmers do not want virtual events they want the ability to socialize and interact with the exhibitor.  And so we decided to provide the information on three mediums 1) A print publication 2) on our website at www.agdays.com and 3) across our 3 social platforms (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). Manitoba Ag Days is publishing and producing its very own Publication presented by Farm Credit Canda. It is a jammed packed book full of information including our 2021 Innovation Showcase entrants, a full Exhibitor Directory and “Ag Days Specials” being offered by our Sponsors and Exhibitors for the full month of January!!  Producers in Manitoba and Saskatchewan can expect to see the book in their mailboxes the week of January 4th to 8th!  Our website is full of information as well, including all of the components of the publication but with more details.  Exhibitors in the Innovation Showcase and those running Ag Days Specials were able to load hyperlinks and videos and brochures right onto our site.  You will see that we were able to offer a lot more prize money for the Innovation Showcase this year! Without a physical show we were able to partner with Glacier Farm Media to reward $1000.00 to every finalist, $500 to every runner up and then offer a Grand Prize Award of $15,000.00 for the Grand Prize Winner of the Innovation Showcase.  We wanted to get producers involved with the Showcase and so we have a voting site set up to vote for the Farmer’s Choice Grand Prize Champion who will receive $10,000.00 Producers can head to www.agdays.com/vote2021 starting on January 11th, 2021.

The final component to our deliverables this year is our Ag Days Gives Back Community Giving Program.  Typically at our live in person show we would have a 50/50 held at the Keystone Centre but with no show we are holding our first ever online 50/50.  (LGCA 4206-RF-35050) The funds raised through our Ag Days Gives Back Program are going to go to our 3 scholarship recipients, Ag In The Classroom –Manitoba for their virtual Manitoba Ag Days Adventure in 2021 and to 15 early learning centres throughout the province.  The goal of our community giving program is to support the communities where our patrons and exhibitors live! We would encourage you to help us support ag related charities by buying your ticket at www.agdays.com/buy5050 Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20.

Check your mailboxes for the publication, tune into our website and stay connected with us on our social platforms.  We have a ton of great information to deliver in a really fun and unique way! Stay Safe and Be Well so that we can all be together again, stronger than ever!

Manitoba Ag Days Gives Back Deadline Approaching

Manitoba Ag Days would like to help your community projects become a reality. This year, we have decided to make a change in our community giving program for the 2021 Intake. With everything going on in the world we would like to support the communities where our exhibitors and patrons live so we have decided to open our grant money up to ONLY Licensed Early Learning Centres for the 2021 show. Since the program began we have had several early learning centres apply for the funding and so we want to spread out our impact by supporting 15 centres this year.  Please apply early and let us know how your centre would use the $1000. There are no limitations to the use of the funds – it can be used for upgrades, infrastructure, supplies, equipment, artificial turf, windows, play structures, etc… We know how difficult it is to get funding for ELC and so we want to support you and everything that you do!   We will still be giving away our 3 scholorships as well as our education grant to Agriculture in the Classroom- Manitoba in 2021.

The deadline for licensed, non- profit, early learning centres and Assiniboine Community College Agriculture students to submit applications is November 15th with grants being awarded in 2021.

“The goal of the fund is to be able to share some of the show’s success with the rural communities where our patrons and exhibitors live. We have had an excellent response over the past years and know how hard this year has been on everyone.  We are always eager to help projects in our local communities.” stated Kristen Phillips, Manitoba Ag Days General Manager.

To date Manitoba Ag Days has “given back” over $28,000 annually to a total well over $288,000 to community organization throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Manitoba Ag Days 2021 Show Cancelled

The board of directors of Manitoba Ag Days has made the very difficult decision to not proceed with a traditional Manitoba Ag Days show in 2021. The safety and well-being of our exhibitors, patrons, volunteers, contractors, board of directors and management team was paramount in our decision to not move forward.

The traditional Ag Days is an opportunity for us to gather together, share knowledge, showcase innovation, and learn something new. It allows us to touch, feel, see and smell all things agriculture.  Ag Days is an opportunity to share a conversation, hear a specialist and engage with hundreds of exhibitors all under one roof.  It is a chance to meet new people and foster life long relationships.

We care about the Keystone Centre, it’s incredible staff and the infrastructure that it houses. The Keystone Centre is the premier location in Canada to host an event, especially an agricultural one. We value the economic impact our show has not only in Brandon but all of Westman. Ag Days extends to many communities and we know each of you are great ambassadors for our show and our province. We care about the food and beverage, event, and hospitality industries and know how big of an impact Ag Days has on all of these businesses. Ag Days would not be possible if it weren’t for the hard work and long hours that everyone puts in before, during and after the show. The communities where our patrons and exhibitors live are extremely important to us and we want to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Given the current situation, we do not feel like we can safely carry out the Largest Indoor Farm Show in Canada so for the security and well-being of Manitobans, we have arrived at the very difficult decision to cancel our 2021 show. For now, we will help create a healthier society so that when it is safe to do so we can be back together again, stronger than ever.
