Angela Santiago, Co-founder / CEO

Angela co-founded The Little Potato Company with her family almost 20 years ago in 1996. She introduced little “Creamer” potatoes to North America where potatoes are, even now, too-often perceived as big, bland and boring. “Creamer” potatoes are bred to be small. These tasty little veggies are packed full of nutrition and big buttery flavour, offering convenience and versatility for today’s busy, sophisticated food lovers. Angela built The Little Potato Company from, quite literally, a bathtub full of freshly washed Creamers delivered to local farmers’ markets by car to store listings across Canada and in all 50 states in the U.S. The company has five distribution centers in Canada and the U.S. and state-of-the-art sorting, washing and packing facilities in Edmonton and Prince Edward Island. She and her team of passionate potato professionals take their quest for new potato discoveries to regions of the world where potato roots run deep—primarily South America and Europe—to find unique new Creamer varieties to please palates across North America. As a result, The Little Potato Company offers several unique and proprietary varieties of Creamers in an array of colours, flavours and shapes to delight families and foodies. The Little Potato Company’s Creamers are now proudly sold by some of the largest grocery and retail chains in North American, who rightly expect outstanding service and committed support. As a wife and mother of four, Angela is astutely disciplined with her time and commitments, focusing carefully on initiatives that support business, family or personal goals. She shares her appreciation for this important balance through an internal culture framed by values that focus on the importance of family, going beyond expectations, elevating others, setting and meeting commitments and not taking yourself too seriously by remembering the journey should be fun and rewarding. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Alberta, preceded by a Business Diploma, and complemented by studies at the Justice Institute of B.C and the University of Alberta’s Executive Program Her ongoing thirst for learning most recently led to the successful completion of the QuantumShift™, through Ivy Business School in 2015. The Little Potato Company has been recognized as a Business in Edmonton Leader in 2015, an Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2012 by Ernst & Young, Top Produce Person of the Year by the Ontario Provincial Marketing Association, Top Forty Under Forty in 2011 and is a member of the Produce Marketing Association and Canadian Produce Marketing Association.
