While most commodity prices and food prices have escalated rapidly, cattle prices have been slow to respond. High feed costs and a higher Canadian dollar have also been working against cattle prices. Cattle herds in North America are shrinking, but it will take time to work through the larger cattle numbers on the market due to drought and female liquidation. This presentation will outline the key supply and demand factors driving the current market, and outline key indicators to watch moving forward.
