2016 proved to be a challenging year on several canola disease fronts.  One disease that has been of increasing concern across the Prairies is blackleg.  This silent yield robber is frequently confused with other canola diseases. This results in lost opportunities to manage the disease in field, and allows losses to be misdiagnosed. This presentation will cover diagnostics of blackleg symptoms compared to other canola diseases, along with best management practices and a new resistance stewardship method to help reduce blackleg infections in canola.
