Technological advancements in agriculture are rapidly changing. However, with the increase in technology, cyber threats common to other industries have found targets in agricultural technology. All those involved in the supply chain of agriculture, which includes everyone from farmers to businesses that support farmers, to people who process and distribute the food produced, need to be aware of the growing cyber threats and take appropriate measures to mitigate the risks. This presentation will examine the current cyber threat landscape and offer some suggestions and best practices designed to mitigate risk.

Farm labour continues to be a growing concern on Canadian primary producer operations. The lack of available employees, in combination with an industry not recognized for its human resource management, leaves a large number of jobs vacant or filled with inexperienced workers. For agriculture to adapt, it needs to turn to innovation and technology for its growing labour concerns. Hebert Grain Ventures has made human resources the top of its strategic plan in terms of operations. The business continues to use other industries and technologies as a roadmap to improve its hiring, retention and efficiencies. Using technology, relationships and metrics, the operation strives to improve human resources in agriculture. Most farms create work and then find labour; what if you hired good people and then created the work for them?

Craig will take a look at global trade and the international markets while focusing the presentation on Trade, Dollar, and Interest Rates. Craig will explain what all of this means for the health of Canadian Agriculture today and in the future.

Agriculture is more than cows, sows and plows; its drones, clones and technology.  Manitoba 4-H members, Joryn, Hanna and Lauren will share their experience at the National Future Farmers of America Convention where 70,000 delegates spent four days learning about the opportunities in the agriculture industry.  Speakers from the NASA agriculture space research team challenged youth to think to the beyond about agriculture, to use their talent and energy in this sector.  FFA has nearly 1 million members in the United States, students learning about science, technology and food production, hear how our students connected and learned about common issues.
